Merger of PA SBCO and PA PO Cadres: The Department of Posts, Government of India under the Ministry of Communications recently gave a final opportunity to the officers of Postal Assistants (Savings Bank Control Organization or PA (SBCO)) to choose the cadre for them namely Postal Assistant (Post Office or PA (PO)). This integration i.e. merger of the PA SBCO and PA PO cadres, officially communicated through a recent circular, offers an avenue for officials in the PA (SBCO) cadre to extend their roles under India Post.

This is part of India Post’s efforts to continue improving flexibility in its workforce, to simplify operations, and to harmonize responsibility across service cadres. What PA (SBCO) and PA (PO) Cadre Officials Should Know

1. Final Application Submission Deadline: Application The last date for receipt of application is 20th November 2024. All PA (SBCO) officers desirous of undergoing transfer to the cadre of PA (PO) must have their requests on administrative file by that date. No further date has been indicated and it would not be granted an extension beyond that date.

2. Deadline for Processing Requests: All pending requests with DA branch from PA (SBCO) officials must be fully processed by 25th November 2024 and orders issued.

3. Reporting Remaining PA (SBCO) Officials: In respect of each postal circle report is to be submitted to the Directorate by November 30, 2024 mentioning details in regard to the number of remaining PA (SBCO) officials with details, like name and service length, cases in which promotion was refused by them earlier and their date of retirement.

The October 2024 circular is a sequel to the earlier communications sent by the Department of Posts in aiding the process of assimilation of PA (SBCO) and PA (PO) cadres.
